Week 20
Whats up guys, que dice la buena vida.
This week was a lot of fun! Being a district monkey is great cuz I go on cambios all the time with other missionaries. There wasn't a lot of work done in our area (cuz no one was there for like 3 days) but nonetheless we ballin.
Turns out that the cartel (who quite literally lives in Xochistlan) very much respects the missionaries and God which is awesome, because now their kids aren't cooked. In my zone leaders area they are working with the kids of a few cartel-couples whose kids would have been cooked but the gospel of Jesus Christ blesses all of God's children... so now they go to church instead of selling weapons

My area is the smallest area in the mission. By now I know by name like 80% of all the people who live in my area lol. Because of this we've been putting a huge emphasis on families and inactive members. Ive been able to talk to every single inactive member in my area!! (3 families jajajaj) but still one of them came to church last week and the ward is doing great!
Taught one of our recent converts how to do a barspin on his bike (didn't get hurt
).
). All in all I still feel like I have so much to learn and so far to go. Gotta admit sometimes its a lil discouraging when I'm not perfect. But you know what? Nephi felt the same way, and if the guy that literally started writing the golden plates wasn't perfect, there's no way I can be. With this I go into a hopeful short, sincere spiritual thought.
Sometimes I feel like the self-placed pressure the youth of today have can drive us to believe that we have to be perfect. This is the farthest thing from the truth. When we accept the incorrect doctrine from the adversary himself that God expects us to be perfect we not only place immeasurable pressure on ourselves, but we deny the literal atonement itself. We are not expected to be perfect. However, do not confuse this as an excuse to be lazy and slow to remember the lord our God. Jesus Christ died for us to have the ability to repent when we are at fault, to cover for when we mess up or are low on energy and want to quit. This is my invitation for this week: Remember why Christ died for you. Not so we can be perfect, but so we can change and return to our loving, non-chastising, father in heaven. Take that impossible pressure to be perfect off of your shoulders and turn to God. Give yourself the ability to discover who God needs you to be and strive, with the loving atonement in mind, to do his will. Study the scriptures and pray earnestly, seek him in every second of every day. I can promise that if you can do this you will find rest and strength in your trials. You will find happiness. Our God loves you, he is there for you, he knows you. Turn to him in your heart and you'll find what you're looking for. Scouts honor.
Love you guys!
