Week 11
Bendiciones!!
These weeks are really starting to fly by, lol. I'm loving Mexico and most of the people here. We just ended our first transfer and almost everyone is leaving which sucks but me and my comp are staying!!
Our zone leaders were super sick and made us soccer jerseys with our number of baptisms this transfer as the number on the back, super sick!
We had the primary program this Sunday and it was incredible! Instead of singing the kids just yelled but it was still somehow filled with the spirit. It's a simple testament of how powerful the holy ghost really is. Also... one of our friends came to church for the first time. She was supposed to come with her sister but she got sick so our friend was alone with me and my comp. Now, she's also like 12, way above primary age. Soooo when all the primary kids stood up and ran to the front to sing these songs they have been practicing for weeks, somehow, our friend who had never been to church before, found herself standing in the primary program in front of our entire ward.... it's OK she said she loved it.
We have been teaching a kid named Christian. His brother is a recent convert, and Christian is on fire. He's got so much faith and understands as much as he can about the gospel. Every time we walked up to this kid's house he'd run out and shout how many days till his baptism, so awesome. Turns out, his mum told us the wrong birthday and he's actually 7... great. When we told him he had to wait a month (his birthday is in December) he was so sad. When questioned why he wanted to be baptized so much, he simply said "I want to follow Jesus christ." He has some of the strongest faith I've ever seen.
I love these two examples of what happened when we truly let the spirit fill our souls. Our father in heaven has given us a gift that is the holy ghost. With this gift we have guidance and protection 24/7. As we strive to learn more and be worthy in our thoughts and actions, the spirit's power will grow within us. This is an incredible gift in our lives. I implore you all to strive with, all that you have and are, to hold the spirit in your heart. If you find yourself without this living guidance, do everything you can to get it back because as President Russel M. Nelson said, it will be impossible to survive these coming days spiritually without the loving, guiding spirit of our heavenly father. I know these things to be true.
Summary
So yeah, this was a good week, Christian's actually 7 cuz his mom's a bum, and we had a friend get roped into the primary program on her first time coming to church. Having the spirit in our lives is vital, strive to hold it in your heart and mind each day.
Love yall,
Elder LaBass
