Week 8

 Bendiciones!!

This was very much a "cos" week for me. (For those who don't like math, cos or
co-sin, when graphed is a line that curves from high to low to high).

But before I explain why I used a really bad math joke to describe my week, just like an old friend of mine (you know who you are), funny stories:

- everyone was drunk Saturday night. Like really drunk. After finding a really cool family we saw a massive crowd of ppl and naturally we said heck nah. But then a bunch of kids we are teaching called us over so we went to take a look. Turns out, a man that was knocked out drunk tried to ride his bike and crashed very hard. His shin was broken and was actually snapped, and you could see the bones broken. So, my comp, being the awesomely faithfully man that he is, asked for my oil and gives this guy a blessing of healing. (This is in front of like 50 ppl btw) After the blessing the man stopped yelling in pain and even tried to stand up lol. He's in the hospital now haha.

- we started using some summer sales tactics to peak people's interest while door knocking at it works amazingly. Most of y'all know, I was a sales rep for Vivint last summer doing door to door and it was easily the hardest thing I had ever done, and I would never trade that summer for anything because MAN does that knowledge work out here. The true testament was when we accidently knocked a door with some people who were very busy. When the guy answered the door, he wasn't too happy to see two representatives of Jesus Christ hahahaha. Either way we ended up giving him a whole lesson because of how good the pitch worked lol.

The week started off really good with some new people getting baptismal dates and finding some pretty promising people only to absolutely plumet from Wednesday to Sunday. Those days were really slow with minimum success and a lot of prayer for direction. We have about 18 people in teaching and like 7 recent converts and NONE OF THEM came to church this week... no not one. That was a big blow because we had given our all to these people and we felt like we had failed. But nevertheless, God is always there and did answer our prayers. After church we got right to work and had one of the best finding days we had ever had. Through this, I was reminded the power of prayer. It is so amazing that we have the power to communicate with God and ask for miracles. Some of which were:

1- We have an inactive lady and her daughter in teaching right now and we were about to drop them because they just weren't progressing. One day in a different colonial (small group of houses) than the one they live in, me and my comp had like four lessons fall through. So, once we realized we didn't know where to go we decided to get on our knees on the side of this dirt road and ask God for direction. Right after we said amen my comp looked up and said with a smile "there's no way." Walking towards us was the inactive mom we were about to drop. Through this week we were able to schedule and execute a powerful member lesson with our bishop and this Hermanas family. Safe to say we still have them in teaching!

2- that same member lesson we found out that one of the biggest concerns was that Dulce, the daughter of the inactive member, thought she had to know everything before her baptism. Now, speaking Spanish to an adult is one thing, but a 12-year-old girl is another. I had no CLUE what they were saying but the spirit impressed me to share a scripture and spiritual thought about Luke 17:6. If you haven't yet, give'er a read. It talks about how our faith starts a small as a mustard seed and grows when we help it. You can imagine I was overjoyed when my comp told me what Dulce had said and how that scripture was perfect and not random haha.

The power of prayer is unmatched. When we pray to our heavenly father with faith to act on our promptings, he will bless us with those opportunities to act. This week I studied what I myself actually had faith in and I can proudly say with all my heart that I know and have faith in our loving heavenly father and his son, our savior, Jesus Christ. But don't take my word for it, ask him yourself. Something I was reminded of this week is that having doubts is an essential part of this life. But what's even more essential is what we do with those doubts. I implore y'all, when your doubts come, don't conclude by yourself, take them to God and the scriptures and I promise he will hear and reveal to you the things you desire to know.

Summary:
This week was Awesome, terrible, then awesome again because why not. Don't drink and ride a bike because you will snap your shin and I will give you a priesthood blessing for your pain, not your hospital bill. Also, if you wanna be able to interrupt someone in the middle of anything and still be able to walk away successfully sharing a spiritual message, do summer sales. Finaly, the power of prayer is one never to be underestimated. Ask God with real faith and never be afraid to question anything. When we seek him with real intent to act, he will bless us.

Love y'all!!
