Week 12
Bendiciones!!!
One of our members tried to kill me. She fed us this amazing food that's basically everything delicious... in a massive fried chilly... I don't have a good spice tolerance. This was definitely a week of miracles! As we dedicated ourselves more and put effort where needed through prayer, we saw God step in and cover what we couldn't.
What I mean:
1. First story is about a kid named Angel. He's friends with our amazing member-nonmember, Alexis, that's how we found him. We had been teaching him for a while, but he wasn't really progressing, so we were close to dropping him. I kept having this feeling each time I thought about him to go and contact him. One day we planned on simply dropping the ball with him, as in he can choose whether to keep meeting with us with the intent of going to church or we were going to stop passing by.... He now has a baptismal date lol. What happened was he was so caught up on believing the same things as his family (heavy Catholics). He told us two things: a lil bit ago he talked with his uncle and asked if he believes in the saints. His uncle said no even though his whole family does (once again, heavy catholic). This confused Angel until one day, in no other place than HISTORY CLASS, his teacher was talking about having the freedom of religion and the spirit confirmed in him that he had a right to choose what he believes. So, when we swung by, he was ready to progress and will be baptized on the 20th! (Also, the first fecha I placed alone hehe).
2. I had my worries about our boy Christian and his understanding of baptism because he's so young. However, that was swept away when on fast Sunday (which is incredible in Mexico btw) he asked me to "be his companion" as he bore his first testimony at 7 years old. So, I got on one knee at the pulpit and held him up so he could reach the microphone, and he bore his very first testimony of the truthfulness of the church of Jesus Christ and our loving heavenly father. Later that day he also asked us to dedicate his house with our priesthood. Love this kid.
There are so many other small miracles like this every day that just happen without us noticing. It's incredible how much our heavenly father loves us. We also bought some guarachas *super dope leather flip flops* :)
Moral of the story, God is ALWAYS there, right next to us, walking with us. When we put even the smallest mustard seed of faith towards him, he allows us to grow. If you feel alone, are in a difficult situation, or simply just don't know what is true, turn to God. When we do, he will not only tell us where to put out efforts but will magnify them as well. Miracles come through faith, turn to him and you will be giving more miracles than you can count. I am a sure witness of this and can promise this to anyone with real intent.
Love you guys,
Elder LaBass
